Dear Mr. House:
I would like to thank you for the copy of your book, Through My Eyes, which you recently donated to the Glenbow Library & Archives. I believe I remember when you visited; as I recall you had just had that terrible accident and you could barely speak – I'm glad to see that you're feeling better. I've enjoyed reading the book; there was a lot of American black history that I didn't know. Mostly, though, I found reading about your own experiences and reactions to western Canada very moving, although I have to say that it's also left me a little sad – I've only visited the United States and never lived there, but I hadn't realised that race is still a factor. I don't know that we entirely deserve your warm words, but it certainly gives us all something to live up to. Once again, thank you for sending the book, and best wishes for its success.

Thank you so much for donating a copy of Through My Eyes to the museum. I have only flipped through it a little but I definitely wanted to thank you for thinking to send one our way. This is great research for an exhibit on black migrations to Canada and you are in the front of my mind to help us when this becomes an option in our exhibit scheduling. Also, congratulations on getting it printed; it looks great!
All the best,
